Thanks to our sponsors Avid/Softimage, Jellyfish
Pictures and ERA.
Event Summary Presentations by Passion Pictures, Kim Aldis and The
Mill.
Mark Wilson, Stuart Hall and Neil Riley showed how Passion Pictures
created the spot for "Domestos". Prior to that they had a LightWave/Messiah
pipeline which was converted to XSI. They used Point
Oven, developed by Mark, to transfer the model from Lightwave
to XSI. The different steps of rigging, animation, rendering, texture
mappig and compositing were shown and explained.
Kim Aldis of CG Soup talked about his most recent film he worked on,
directed by Neil Jordan. He showed a detailed rigging of the bird
that was used for the production and all the controls he created for
it.
Jan Walter and Jordi Bares of The Mill presented XtoR, a custom developed
Pipeline for XSI to Renderman (XtorR). The user previews scenes with
the render region and mental ray, then the shaders are converted to
Renderman. They couldn't mention any details about the availaibilty
of this plugin, but mentioned that probably Softimage will obtain
it.
